Joan Young

Joan Young is the Executive Director of Social Venture Partners Santa Barbara.  During her twenty five year career as a non profit leader and consultant, Joan has specialized in transforming organizations, turning challenges into opportunities, with practical tools that implement an organization’s vision, and translating volunteers’ passion into sustainable fundraising growth.  During her fifteen year tenure as the Chapter President of the Channel Islands Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, her trademark innovative management style expanded markets by 50%, increased stakeholder involvement 25 fold, developed and implemented revolutionary programming, and increased revenue by 500% while maintaining focus on achieving goals and rigorous standards of excellence. Prior to her non-profit work Young worked as a sales and marketing professional in the steel industry and with a statewide business and industry lobbyist organization, as well as a Communications teacher at the college level.  Joan holds a M.A. in Communications and B.A. in English from Hunter College, City University of New York.
