Laurie Tumbler
Laurie’s interests are in the welfare of families and children. In Louisville KY, she worked on fund raising campaigns and special events for March of Dimes, Fund for the Arts and United Way. She served on the board of Home of the Innocents, a children’s emergency shelter and pediatric convalescent center, and she founded their Auxiliary. In Los Angeles, she was a member of a foster family agency board.
Laurie and her husband, Joe moved to Santa Barbara in 2000 and co-chaired the Newcomers Club community service committee for 3 years. Laurie created United Way’s “Lunch Bunch” program bringing employee donor groups together with low income children attending Fun in the Sun summer camp. She served on the Nonprofit Support Center board for 6 years and was their interim executive director in 2003. She is past board president of Transition House, whose mission is to end family homelessness in Santa Barbara. Laurie also serves on the Santa Barbara Foundation’s Human Service allocation committee.
Her early career was in financial services, managing an information center for a commercial bank. She holds a B.A from University of Illinois.
