Tom Sloan

Tom Sloan graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Electrical
Engineering and received an MBA in finance from UCLA. Early in his career he held
technical and managerial positions at Applied Magnetics in the computer disk drive
industry. In the mid nineties he lived three years in Singapore as part of an expat team
selected to build and run a disk drive manufacturing facility. In 1998, along with his
brother, he started SloanLED, a light emitting diode company with manufacturing in
Ventura, Taiwan and China. In 2009 they divested their interest and day to day
responsibilities. He currently spends his time raising his three children and working with
various charitable organizations.
